Texas Car Shipping Companies: FMCSA-Verified Brokers & Carriers

Published October 25, 2026 · Updated October 26, 2026

Texas is one of the biggest car shipping states, with a steady flow of moves to and from Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio. This page lists Texas-headquartered auto transport carriers and brokers whose federal records checked out on SAFER, with FMCSA data as of 10/23/2026. Every USDOT number below links to the company's live FMCSA record so you can check it yourself.

Being listed here isn't an endorsement. We don't take money from any company on this page. A clean FMCSA record is the minimum, not proof of good service. How we verify.

Texas by the numbers (FMCSA census)

Texas auto transport carriers (largest by power units)

Carriers own or run the trucks. We took Texas-based companies with "auto transport" style names, Motor Vehicles cargo, and an MC number, ranked them by power units (trucks) reported to FMCSA, and kept the top 12 that showed USDOT Status ACTIVE and AUTHORIZED FOR Motor Carrier of Property on SAFER. Of the 40 we checked, one was OUT-OF-SERVICE, three had active USDOT numbers but NOT AUTHORIZED status, and one showed a different legal name on SAFER than in the census file, so none of those are in this table.

Power units are what each company self-reports to FMCSA, so treat them as approximate. Texas auto transport companies with these names run small fleets: the largest in our search reported 20 power units. A small carrier may sell its own capacity directly or haul loads that brokers assign to it, so ask who will actually pick up your car.

² CTX Auto Transport's phone number appears on SAFER in a nonstandard format, so we haven't reproduced it. Check the SAFER record directly.

Texas auto transport brokers (longest-registered)

Brokers arrange the move and assign a carrier. These are Texas-based companies with "auto transport" style names (including "vehicle transport" and "car transport") and an MC number, registered as brokers, first registered before 2023, and AUTHORIZED FOR Broker of Property on SAFER. They're listed from oldest registration to newest. Brokers must keep a $75,000 bond or trust fund on file, which you can check on FMCSA's L&I search.

¹ Many older records in FMCSA's census file share a November 2011 add date, so for these companies "11/2011" may reflect a records date rather than the year they actually started. SAFER and L&I show the full authority history.

While building this list, 85 of the 107 Texas broker registrations we checked showed NOT AUTHORIZED on SAFER even though their USDOT numbers were active. Most of those (52) were older registrations from 2011–2012, and 12 were registered in 2023 or later. Another 10 authorized Texas brokers were first registered in 2023–2026; we left them off this list of longest-registered brokers, but they aren't excluded for any problem. An unauthorized broker can't legally arrange your interstate move, so check before you pay a deposit.

How to use this list

  1. Ask which one you're booking. If you get a quote from a broker, ask in writing for the assigned carrier's name, MC, and USDOT number before pickup, then check that carrier too. Our 5-minute check walks through it.
  2. Match the phone number. FMCSA's fraud guidance suggests confirming phone numbers against SAFER. If the number you were given doesn't match, call the SAFER number and ask.
  3. Check insurance and bond on L&I. SAFER shows authority; FMCSA's Licensing & Insurance site shows the bond (brokers) and liability filing (carriers).
  4. Read the deposit and cancellation terms. People regularly report losing a deposit after cancelling. A low quote with a non-refundable deposit is a known pattern, so read how the lowball-quote deposit pattern works before you pay.

What this page doesn't cover

We haven't verified insurance amounts, cargo coverage, complaint history, or customer reviews for these companies, so none of that is shown. FMCSA records change daily; if a company's SAFER record no longer matches this table, trust SAFER.

FAQ

How do I check if a Texas car shipping company is licensed?

Search its USDOT or MC number on FMCSA's free SAFER Company Snapshot. You want USDOT Status ACTIVE and Operating Authority Status AUTHORIZED FOR Broker of Property (for a broker) or Motor Carrier of Property (for a carrier). Companies that move cars across state lines must be registered with FMCSA, wherever they're based.

Is a company on this page recommended?

No. This page lists Texas-headquartered companies that met our selection rules and showed active, authorized FMCSA records on the date we checked. A clean federal record is a minimum, not a recommendation. Check insurance, reviews, and the contract yourself before you book.

Why were so many Texas brokers left off?

Of the 107 Texas broker registrations with auto transport style names that we checked on SAFER, 85 had an active USDOT number but showed NOT AUTHORIZED for operating authority. An active USDOT number alone doesn't mean a company can legally broker your interstate move.

What happens to my deposit if I cancel?

That depends entirely on the contract you sign, and FMCSA doesn't set a standard refund rule for auto transport brokers. Read the cancellation and deposit terms in writing before you pay, and be wary of a low quote tied to a non-refundable deposit.
