Pennsylvania Car Shipping Companies: FMCSA-Verified List

Published November 3, 2026

Pennsylvania runs from the Philadelphia suburbs to Pittsburgh and Erie, and it has one of the deeper benches of car haulers we've checked so far. This page lists Pennsylvania-headquartered auto transport carriers and brokers whose federal records checked out on SAFER, with FMCSA data as of 11/01/2026. Every USDOT number below links to the company's live FMCSA record so you can check it yourself.

Being listed here isn't an endorsement. No company can pay to be on this page, and placement never depends on whether we earn a commission. A clean FMCSA record is the minimum, not proof of good service. How we verify.

Pennsylvania by the numbers (FMCSA census)

Pennsylvania auto transport carriers (largest by power units)

Carriers own or run the trucks. We took every Pennsylvania-based company with an "auto transport" style name (including "vehicle transport" and "car transport"), Motor Vehicles cargo, and an MC number in FMCSA's census, 160 records in all, and checked each one on SAFER. We kept every company that showed USDOT Status ACTIVE and AUTHORIZED FOR Motor Carrier of Property with at least two power units (trucks) on SAFER. 57 of the 160 had NOT AUTHORIZED operating authority and 2 were OUT-OF-SERVICE, so none of those are here. Six more held broker authority only (they're covered in the broker section below), and 59 authorized carriers report a single truck; we left those off for size, not because of any problem with the companies.

Power units are what each company self-reports to FMCSA, so treat them as approximate; where FMCSA's census file and the live SAFER record disagreed, we used SAFER. Pennsylvania has two carriers far bigger than the rest: BROTHERS AUTO TRANSPORT LLC in Wind Gap (92 trucks) and ADCOCK BROTHERS AUTO TRANSPORT INC in Manheim (85 trucks, doing business as Adcock Transport). After them come two Philadelphia carriers, UMBRELLA AUTO TRANSPORT INC (25) and TJK AUTO TRANSPORTATION INC (20); everyone else reports 15 or fewer. The carriers cluster in Lancaster County (four list Manheim addresses, plus Lancaster), Philadelphia and its Bucks and Montgomery County suburbs, and the Reading–Lehigh Valley area, with a handful around Pittsburgh, Erie, and Williamsport. Small carriers commonly haul loads assigned by brokers, so if you book through a broker, ask who will actually pick up your car.

Pennsylvania auto transport brokers (longest-registered)

Brokers arrange the move and assign a carrier. These are Pennsylvania-based companies with "auto transport" style names and an MC number that hold broker authority on SAFER, first registered before 2025, and showed AUTHORIZED FOR Broker of Property. They're listed from oldest registration to newest. One more qualifying company, MIRACLE AUTO TRANSPORT CORP in Lancaster (USDOT 1365638, registered 04/2005), holds both carrier and broker authority and is already in the carrier table above, so it isn't listed twice. Brokers must keep a $75,000 bond or trust fund on file, which you can check on FMCSA's L&I search.

Company (FMCSA legal name) City USDOT MC Entity type First registered Phone listed on SAFER

ONYX AUTO TRANSPORT INC Newtown 4171020 MC-1604295 SHIPPER/BROKER 12/2023 (267) 922-2262

¹ Many older records in FMCSA's census file share a November 2011 add date, so for these companies "11/2011" may reflect a records date rather than the year they actually started. SAFER and L&I show the full authority history.

Names appear exactly as FMCSA records them. While building this list, 25 of the 39 Pennsylvania broker registrations we checked showed NOT AUTHORIZED on SAFER; 8 of those were first registered before 2013. One more was OUT-OF-SERVICE, and two held carrier authority only, not broker authority. Six more authorized Pennsylvania brokers were first registered in 2025 or later; we left them off this list of longest-registered brokers, but they aren't excluded for any problem. An unauthorized broker can't legally arrange your interstate move, so check before you pay a deposit.

Records worth knowing about

How to use this list

  1. Ask which one you're booking. If you get a quote from a broker, ask in writing for the assigned carrier's name, MC, and USDOT number before pickup, then check that carrier too. Our 5-minute check walks through it.
  2. Match the phone number. FMCSA's fraud guidance suggests confirming phone numbers against SAFER. If the number you were given doesn't match, call the SAFER number and ask.
  3. Check insurance and bond on L&I. SAFER shows authority; FMCSA's Licensing & Insurance site shows the bond (brokers) and liability filing (carriers).
  4. Read the deposit and cancellation terms before you pay. People regularly report losing a deposit after cancelling, even within a few days of booking. Get the cancellation policy in writing, and read how the lowball-quote deposit pattern works.

What this page doesn't cover

We haven't verified insurance amounts, cargo coverage, complaint history, or customer reviews for these companies, so none of that is shown. FMCSA records change daily; if a company's SAFER record no longer matches this table, trust SAFER.

FAQ

How do I check if a Pennsylvania car shipping company is licensed?

Search its USDOT or MC number on FMCSA's free SAFER Company Snapshot. You want USDOT Status ACTIVE and Operating Authority Status AUTHORIZED FOR Broker of Property (for a broker) or Motor Carrier of Property (for a carrier). Companies that arrange or haul cars across state lines must be registered with FMCSA, wherever they're based.

Is a company on this page recommended?

No. This page lists Pennsylvania-headquartered companies that met our selection rules and showed active, authorized FMCSA records on the date we checked. A clean federal record is a minimum, not a recommendation. Check insurance, reviews, and the contract yourself before you book.

Why were so many Pennsylvania companies left off?

Of the 160 Pennsylvania carrier records with auto transport style names that we checked on SAFER, 57 showed NOT AUTHORIZED for operating authority and 2 showed OUT-OF-SERVICE. Of the 39 Pennsylvania broker registrations we checked, 25 showed NOT AUTHORIZED. An active-looking company name or a USDOT number alone doesn't mean a company can legally haul or broker your interstate move.

How big are Pennsylvania car carriers?

Two stand out: BROTHERS AUTO TRANSPORT LLC in Wind Gap reports 92 power units (trucks) to FMCSA and ADCOCK BROTHERS AUTO TRANSPORT INC in Manheim reports 85. After those, the largest report 25 or fewer, and 59 of the 95 authorized carriers we found report just one truck.
